Language Points

1. inexpensive 不昂貴的,便宜的

inexpensive形容詞,意為“不昂貴的”,其同義詞為 cheap,反義詞為 expensive/dear。    

inexpensive是由expensive加上否定前綴in-構成的。

► The sweater is inexpensive.這件毛衣不貴。

① dis-表示“不;非;相反”,如:

like喜歡 — dislike 不喜歡;

agree 同意 — disagree 不同意。

② in-(im-,ir-)表示“不;非”,如:

expensive 昂貴的 — inexpensive便宜的;

polite禮貌的 — impolite不禮貌的;

regular有規律的 — irregular無規律的。

③un-表示“不,非”,如:

able有能力的 — unable無能力的;

like像 — unlike不像; 

crowded擁擠的 — uncrowded不擁擠的;    

陳述句中如果有帶否定前綴或后綴的單詞, 整個句子仍被視為肯定句,反意疑問部分用否定形式。

►She is unhappy, isn’t she?  她不高興,是嗎?

2. convenient 便利的;方便的

convenient形容詞,意為“便利的;方便的”,其主語不能是表示人的詞,常用于句型:

It’s convenient for sb. to do sth.

意為“對于某人來說做某事是方便的”。

►It’s convenient for us to start working right now.    

我們立刻開始工作是方便的。

convenience是convenient的名詞形式,既可作可數名詞,意為“便利的設施”,也可作不可數名詞,意為“方便,便利”。

►The house has all the modern convenience.

這所房子配有各種現代化便利設旅。

► I keep my books near my desk for convenience. 

為了方便,我把書放在書桌旁。

3. …and the clerk tells her to go to the corner of Market and Middle.

……工作人員告訴她去市場大街和中心大街交匯的拐角處。

corner是可數名詞,意為“拐角;角落”。

常構成短語:

①in the corner of...意為“在……的拐角處/角落里”

►I found a bird flying in the sky. 

我發現一個男孩在房間的角落里哭。

②on/at the corner 意為“在拐角處”

►The shop is on the corner. 

那家商店在拐角處。
