Look at the picture in 1a and make conversations.
A: Did Mario use to be short?
B: Yes, he did. He used to be really short.
A: What’s he like now?
B: He’s tall now.
A: Did Amy use to be straight hair?
B: Yes, she did. She used to have straight hair.
A: What’s she like now?
B: She has curly hair now.
A: Did Tina use to be heavy?
B: Yes, she did. She used to be really heavy.

I used to be afraid of the dark.
used to do sth. 過去常常做某事
表示過去經常性或習慣性的動作或狀態，暗指現在已經不存了，強調過去與現在的對比。
used to的否定形式有兩種：didn’t use to或usedn’t to。
used to用于疑問句時，可借助助動詞did，也可以將used提到主語前。
They used to be good friends.
他們過去是好朋友。 (暗示現在不是了)
► Mrs Brown didn’t use to / usedn’t to travel in summer.
布朗夫人過去夏天不旅游。
► Did you use to / Used you to play the guitar?
他過去彈吉他嗎？
use ... to do sth. 用……做……
►They use the knife to cut meat. 他們用刀切肉。
be used to do sth. 被用來做某事
►This kind of wood is used to make paper.

本句是一個反義疑問句，反義疑問句的特點是“前否后肯”或“前肯后否”，而且后半句在時態、人稱和數等方面必須與前半句保持一致。
►You are a doctor, aren’t you? 你是個醫生，是嗎？
►we can’t take books out, are we? 我們不能把書帶出去，對嗎？
反義疑問句用法歌訣
反義問句要點三，前后謂語正相反；
附加問句not現，必須縮寫是習慣；
最后一點應注意，問句主語代詞填。
反義疑問句的回答：
1)回答反義疑問句和回答其他一般疑問句的結構一樣。
如果答語是肯定的，用“Yes +肯定結構”。
如果答語是否定的，用“No +肯定結構”。
►— He enjoys dancing, doesn’t he? 他喜歡跳舞，對嗎？
—Yes, he does. / No, he doesn’t.
是的，他喜歡。/不，他不喜歡。
2) 回答陳述部分為否定句的反義疑問句時，Yes或是No的漢語意思與它們本身的詞義相反。
►—You didn’t go to work, didn’t you? 你沒有去上班，對嗎？
— Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t. 不，我上班了。/是的，我沒上班。
What’s he like now? 他現在什么樣子？
What +be +主語+like?
用來詢問某人的外貌特征，意為“……長什么樣？”，
相當于 what do /does +主語+like?
►—What’s your brother like?
=What does your brother like? 你哥哥長什么樣？
辨析：be like和look like
be like：“像……一樣”，常指品德、相貌等相像更側重人的個性特征。
look like：“看起來像……”常指外貌上相像。
►The twin sister are like their father.
►He looks like his mother.
