第一部分內容：基礎知識
◆fail既可作名詞也可作動詞，意思是“不及格”。
eg：You will fail in French if you don't work hard.如果你不努力，你的法語考試就會不及格。
I just failed my English exam.我英語考試沒及格。
【拓展】(1)fail to do sth.或fail in doing sth.表示“未能做到某事，做某事失敗，未履行”。
eg：He failed to catch the exam.他考試沒通過。
(2)fail 的反義詞是succeed，常與in 連用，意思是“成功，達到目的”。
eg：I succeeded in getting that job.我成功獲得那份工作。
◆give up意思是“放棄”，既可以單用，也可以后接名詞、動詞-ing形式作賓語。
give up指行為者碰到某種困難或原因而自己主動放棄；give in指行為者屈于某種壓力被迫按別人的要求去做，側重于屈服。
eg：They decided to give up their plan.他們決定放棄計劃。
His mother gave in and bought him a new toy.他母親拗不過他，給他買了一件新玩具。
◆accept意為“接受”?？梢员硎窘邮苣承┏橄蟮臇|西，如想法、表揚、批評、道歉等。
eg：I accepted his friendship.我接受了他的友誼。
