Identify the part of speech of the verb-ed form in the following sentences.
① In Uganda, Ryan at last saw the finished well with his own eyes.
② Many inspired people gave him their support.
③ Ryan had troubled believing the words spoken by his teacher.
④ A well built near a primary school in Uganda cost $2000.
名師精析
(1)有些過去分詞表示特定含義,單獨作定語時也放在被修飾名詞之后。如left(剩余的)、given(所給的)、concerned(有關的)等。
(2)如果被修飾的詞是指示代詞those或something、everything、anything、
nothing、nobody等不定代詞時,單個的過去分詞作定語要放在被修飾詞的后面。
過去分詞短語作定語時往往放在被修飾詞之后(絕大部分可以轉換成一個含有被動語態的從句)。
