1. glass n. 玻璃
glass作“玻璃”講時，為不可數名詞，表達數用…piece(s) of glass. glass 作“玻璃杯” 講是可數名詞。
► We can see everything through glass.

► Three pieces of window glass were broken because of strong wind.
由于風太大，窗戶上的三塊玻璃碎了。
2. Is it made of silver? 它是銀做的嗎？
be made of 為“be+及物動詞的過去分詞+of”的被動語態結構，意為“由……制造；由……制作” 。
強調從制成品中仍可以看出它的原材料。
►The bridge is made of stone. 這座橋是用石頭砌的。
be made from…意為“由……制成”，強調從制成品中看不出它的原材料。如：
►The cake is made from a mixture of flour, sugar and eggs.
蛋糕是由面粉、糖和雞蛋的混合物制成的。
► The kite is made of paper.
這個風箏是用紙做的。
► The wine is made from wheat.
這種酒是用小麥釀成的。
► Some of the trees will be made into paper.
其中一些樹將被做成紙。
► The chair was made by an old carpenter.

3.be famous for
意為“因……而出名，以……而聞名”，后面常接名詞作賓語。
►The French are famous for their cooking.
法國人以善烹調著稱。
►The country is famous for its scenery.
這個國家以秀麗的風景而聞名。
4. both…and…
意為“……和……（兩者）都”，用于連接兩個并列的句子成分。當其在句中作主語時，謂語動詞用復數形式。
►Both Kate and Tom are from Class Three.
凱特和湯姆都來自三班。
both的用法
both表示“兩者都……”，通常放在行為動詞之前，助動詞、情態動詞或be動詞之后。例如：
►We can both answer the questions.
我們兩個都能回答這些問題。
►They are both from the USA.他們倆都來自美國。
5. produce
作動詞，意為“生產；制造；出產”。例如：
►The factory tried to produce more cars.
produce的詞形變化
①product是produce的名詞形式，意為“產品；成果”，是可數名詞。
②production也為produce的名詞形式，意味“生產；產量”，是不可數名詞。
6. as far as I know
意為“據我所知”，為固定短語。例如：
►As far as I know, he will be away for four months.
據我所知，他將離開四個月。
而as far as是同級比較，意為是“和……一樣遠”。例如：►His home is as far as her home from the school.
他的家和她的家距離學校一樣遠。
7. by hand
意為“用手；手工”。by用作介詞，在這里表示方式、手段，意為“通過……的方式”。例如：

9. The tea is packed and sent to many different countries and places around China.

10.be good for…
是固定短語，意為“對……有好處”。其反義詞為be bad for…,意為“對……不利；對……有害”。如：
