1. When we began these lessons, all I knew was that movies and plays are fun to watch.

1) when引導時間狀語從句；I knew是
all的定語從句，省略了引導詞that;
that movies and plays are fun to watch是表語從句。
fun用作形容詞，意為“有趣的；使人快樂的”。它可以修飾名詞作定語，也可以作表語。
e.g. Gina is a fun girl.
吉娜是個有趣的女孩。
fun用作名詞時，是不可數名詞，意為“快樂；樂趣”。 have fun意為“過得愉快”。
e.g. I play soccer for fun. 我為樂趣而踢足球。
We have fun at the party (聚會).

1. 時間狀語從句
在句子中作時間狀語的從句叫作時間狀語從句。一般情況下，時間狀語從句可以位于主句之前或主句之后，位于主句之前時，通常用逗號與主句分開。引導時間狀語從句的從屬連詞有很多，現將它們的用法作一詳細介紹：
(1) when和while
when引導時間狀語從句時表示“當……的時候”，它既可以指時間段也可指時間點，從句中既可用延續性動詞也可用非延續性動詞。如：
My mother was cooking when I arrived home.
When I was visiting London, I liked to travel by bus.
while引導時間狀語從句時表示“在……期間”，它強調主句的動作與從句的動作同時持續地進行或主句動作是在從句動作發生期間發生的。while引導的時間狀語從句中的謂語動詞必須是延續性動詞。如：
While Mary was writing a letter, the children were playing outside.
While I was playing computer games, my father called me.
(2) before和after
before引導時間狀語從句時表示主句的動作發生在從句動作之前， after引導時間狀語從句時表示主句的動作發生在從句動作之后。如：
I will give you a call before I leave New York.
You can go out for a walk after you finish your homework.
(3) until
until引導時間狀語從句，表示主句謂語動詞所表示的動作持續到從句謂語動詞所表示的動作發生為止。其常用結構not ... until ... 表示“直到……才(開始)……”。如：
We waited until the rain stopped.
The boy didn’t go to bed until his mother came back.
(4) as soon as
as soon as引導的從句表示從句的動作一發生，主句的動作隨即發生，意為“一……就……”。如：
I will write to you as soon as I get to London.
