We should always speak English in class.

Let’s try to speak English as much as possible.

How about listening to the radio?

Start your conversation with greetings or a question.

You should smile and don’t be shy.

You  need to understand the key words and main ideas.

Why don’t we try to find some English pen friends and write to them?

vocabulary

It’s a good idea to spell and pronounce the new words aloud every day.

I suggest you write four or five words a day,read them and try to use them.

You can look up the new words in the dictionary.

Listen again and answer the questions

1 What is difficult for Charlie?

The English homework is difficult for him.

Mary: Hi, Charlie, what’s wrong?

Charlie:Hi, Mary. This English homework is really difficult.

2 How will Mary help him?

Mary will work with him.

Mary: Why don’t we work on it together?

Charlie:Yes, OK.

3 When does Charlie think they should meet?

Charlie thinks that they should meet After school.

Charlie:How about meeting after school today?

Mary: Good idea! We should tell our classmates. Maybe other students would like to join us.

4 What does Mary think about reading newspapers?

Mary thinks reading newspapers is a good idea.

Charlie:We should read some newspapers and help each other with difficult vocabulary.

Mary: Good idea! Let’s go and write  the email now.

Grammar

【例句】

1. Why not search for some more advice on the Internet?

2. Why don’t you send her some postcards?

3. What / How about the yellow one?

4. What / How about starting a conversation with the foreign teacher?

5. Let’s listen to an English song, shall we?

6. It’s a good idea to make grammar notes in  class.

7. We / You should read the new words aloud every day.

Notes

1.Why not ...?  “為什么不……呢? ”,后接__________。此句型是省略了主語的形式,完整句型為“Why don’t +主語(you / we / they ...)+動詞原形+其他?” 。

2. What / How about ...?  “……怎么樣?” 其中about是介詞,后接名詞或_________形式來表示提建議。

3. Let’s ...是一個以Let’s開頭的祈使句,Let’s是Let us的縮略形式, 表示建議對方和自己一起做某事, 意為___________________________, 后接動詞原形。

4. It’s a good idea to ... ……是個好主意,后接 to do。

5. should “應該”,情態動詞,后接動詞原形。
