“So+ be/助動詞+主語”這一結構表示自己與前一個人的情況相同或同意前一個人的說法，意思是“……也這樣”。在這兒是承接上一句貝蒂媽媽的話—I’m sorry you can’t come with us，表示“我也很遺憾無法同行”。
例如：
Joe was a little upset, and so was I.
喬有點不開心，我也有點兒。
He has been ill, and so has his wife.
他一直生著病，他妻子也一樣。
Neil left just after midnight, and so did Jack.
尼爾一過午夜就走了，杰克也是。
2. There won’t be anybody to wake you up in the morning.
早上將沒有人叫你起床。
wake為不及物動詞，意為“喚醒，醒來”。當作“喚醒某人”講的時候，其后常加介詞up，構成短語wake up。當被叫醒的對象是人稱代詞時，要用賓格形式，且必須放在短語中間；當被叫醒的對象是名詞時，可放在短語中間，也可放在短語后面。

be about to do sth.的意思是“就要/ 正要……”。例如：
We were just about to leave when Jerry arrived.
杰里來的時候，我們正準備走。
She looked as if she was about to cry.

So that:
（1）引導結果狀語從句，意為“因此，所以”，主句和從句間常用逗號分開，一般不與情態動詞連用。
Nothing more was heard of him，so that people thought that he was dead.
未再聽到他的消息，以致人們認為他已死去了。
（2）引導目的狀語從句，意為“為了，以便”，通常從句中用may，might，can，could等情態動詞。
We left early so that we could catch the first bus.
我們很早出發，以便能趕上第一班汽車。

一對冤家不碰頭
Though, although引導讓步狀語從句時,意思是“盡管……（但是）……”, 不與but連用。
注意：漢語中“雖然”與“但是”往往同時使用但在英語中是不可以的。
不能說：Though\Although he looks weak, but he is healthy.
可以說：Though\Although he looks weak, he is healthy.
可以說：He looks weak, but he is healthy.

注意：so that引導目的狀語從句時，可用in order that(以便，為了）替換，以上兩句中的so that均可換成in order that。
