Brother: But the house is already pretty clean and tidy!
Sister: Yes, well, it’s clean, but it’s not “mother clean”!
Language points
1.Tony, could you please help out with a few things? 托尼，你能幫忙做幾件事嗎？
help out (with something) 是一個動詞短語， 表示在某人繁忙或是遇到困難時“給予幫助”。
本單元中這句話：
You watch TV all the time and never help out around the house!
你老是看電視，從不幫忙干家務。
2. I think two hours of TV is enough for you!
我認為你看兩個小時電視就足夠了！
此處，two hours of TV雖為復數，但卻表達一種整體的觀念。英語語法規定，當時間、長度、距離或其他可數名詞表示一個完整的整體概念作主語時，其后的謂語動詞用單數形式。
Two months is quite a long time.
兩個月是挺長的一段時間。
Thirty students is not a big number for a class.
30人對一個班來說算不上是大數目。
3. …because Mom will be back from shopping any minute now. …
因為媽媽隨時都會買完東西回來。
any minute now 是一種常見口語表達，相當于“隨時；馬上；在任何時候”的意思，minute 還可替換為“second, moment, time”等。
e.g. We are expecting them any moment now.
我們期待他們隨時到來。
4. And she won’t be happy if she sees this mess.
如果她看到這么亂會生氣的。
mess意為“臟亂狀態；凌亂狀態”，一般用單數。
Your hair is a mess. 你頭發很亂。
與mess搭配的常用短語有：in a mess, make a mess, clean up the mess 以及What a mess!
